Serbia’s best shot putter Asmir Kolasinac won silver at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in the Czech Republic
Asmir Kolasinac scored his best hit in the last series when his shot-put landed on 20.90 mark making this just 1cm short of his best result.
In the first two series Kolasinac transgressed, but in the third he went for the sure score and achieved 20.47, enough for the third place.
After the fourth series, the Spaniard Borha, who threw 20.59m, overtook Kolasinac. Drama continued when Asmir transgressed once again in the fifth series, ending in the fifth place.
The sixth series was a clincher! With all of his considerable strength, Kolasinac was ready to throw for a medal. He did it confidently and with great might – it landed on the 20.90 mark!
“I am very happy. This is a realisation of my dream. The competition was great, the audience was great. I hope that my next medal is at the world championships,” said Kolasinac.
The gold medal winner was David Storl from Germany with the result of 21.23m, while the third place was won by Ladislav Prasil from the Czech Republic with the result of 20.66m.
This was one more medal for Serbia and a new page in the history of Serbian athletics!
Tomorrow is another final in Prague in the long jump – we are rooting for Ivana Spanovic.
