Best Serbian athlete and a long jump national record holder Ivana Španović continues with a streak of victories. She marked 6.87m jump at the Indoor Meeting in Berlin.
Španović traveled to Berlin with the best personal best and she confirmed it by repeating her farthest jump twice – in fourth and fifth series.
The competitions have just started and Ivana set both the World and European season best. There are two more upcoming events that we look forward to: Balkan Indoor Championships on 25 February and European Indoor Championships from 3-5 March in Kombank Arena.
Ivana’s personal best at the Indoor competitions is 7,07m and German athlete Aleksandra Wester was the closest competitor – 6,95m.
Claudia Salman Rat placed second with 6,76m and Wester finished third – 6,71m.
Ivana’s jumps: 1 – 6.60m, 2- 6.83m, 3- 6.62m, 4 - 6.87m, 5- 6.87m, 6- 6.73m
"Terrific season opening, I estimated jumps around 6,80 – 6,85m and Ivana met all the expectations. She struggled with the surface but eventually ended with a great series of jumps, crowned with the best opening of the season in her career. Her next competition are Balkan Indoor Championships in Belgrade on February 25 in Kombank Arena so we still have the time to prepare the best we can", said Ivana’s coach Goran Obradovic.
